Licensed to practice in Kansas and Missouri state courts and in the federal courts, Steve earned the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 2009 from the University of Kansas School of Law. Steve is a 2006 honors graduate in History from Kansas State University, where he served as president of the Pre-Law Society and was named to Phi Beta Kappa.

Professional memberships: Steve is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, Johnson County Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, American Bar Association, Federalist Society, Christian Legal Society and the Kansas City Estate Planning Society. Steve is also a member of various Kansas City civic groups: Mercury Club, The Modernists (Young Friends of the National World War I Museum & Memorial), Young Friends of the Arts (Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art), and Sons of the American Revolution. 

Steve has authored or co-authored over a dozen Continuing Legal Education courses on probate, trusts, nonprofits, Medicaid and tax law, and he wrote an op-ed column for The Kansas City Star's Midwest Voices team, along with over a dozen guest op-eds in The Kansas City Star and other newspapers. He writes the KC Estate Planner blog on estate planning issues at kcestateplan.com and on art and entertainment law at kccreativearts.wordpress.com.
